How much does a law firm
website cost?
The price range first, then what moves a law firm quote up or down and what to check before you publish.
The short answer
The short number
A law firm website with WTM Studio costs $6,000 to $30,000, paid one time. That is the same band as our other websites, and where your firm lands depends on how many pages and intake steps it needs.
You see a free concept homepage first, then get one flat quote. No retainer is required.
Below you get what the quote is made of, what it usually leaves out, one firm's reported result and five steps to compare quotes.
What a law firm quote is made of
Price follows scope. Count your practice areas, your lawyers, your offices and your old content, then find your firm in each row.
| Factor | Smaller scope | Larger scope |
|---|---|---|
| Practice area pages | A few practice areas, each on one page | Many practice areas, each with its own page and its own intake questions |
| Attorney profiles | A short team of two or three | A large bench, each lawyer with a full profile |
| Locations | One office, one address, one set of hours | Several offices, each with a location page |
| Intake and contact forms | One contact form and a phone number | Different forms by matter type, with routing to the right person |
| Content migration | You start fresh or carry over a few pages | Hundreds of old pages and articles to review and move |
| Languages | English only | A second language with reviewed translations |
A two office firm with a handful of practice areas sits in the lower half. A firm with many offices, many matter types and years of articles to move sits toward the top. Our law firm website page shows how we build for firms like yours.
What a website quote usually leaves out
Some costs sit outside almost any website quote. Ask each vendor to confirm in writing which of these their number covers.
- Domain registration and renewal
- Subscriptions for tools you already use, such as scheduling or intake software
- Advertising spend
- Professional photography of your lawyers and office
- A lawyer's review of the page copy before it goes live
Our pricing page explains how we scope a project, and the quote comparison guide shows how to line up proposals side by side.
One firm's report: Ecomm Law Group
WTM Studio designed a website for Ecomm Law Group. The owner reports that the practice gained 16 to 18 percent month over month in revenue.
Read that for what it is. It is one firm's own report. We do not state a time span, and we do not say the website alone caused it. Revenue also depends on cases, referrals, demand and how fast a firm answers new inquiries.
Our proof so far is from dental, one medical aesthetics group and one law group. That means we have one law firm result to share, not many. You can see the Ecomm Law Group design on the law firm page.
Check your state bar rules before you publish
Lawyer advertising is regulated, and the rules differ by state. Before any page goes live, check your state bar's advertising rules.
Hand the attorney responsible for the firm the actual page copy, testimonials and consultation language, and have them review it against those rules. We build the site. We do not give legal advice.
How to compare three law firm website quotes
- Ask each vendor for the page count in writing, split into practice area pages, attorney profiles and location pages.
- Ask what happens to your old pages and web addresses, and who handles the move.
- Ask whether the price is one time or monthly, and what a monthly fee would cover.
- Ask who owns the site, the design and the content when the work ends.
- Ask for the same list of exclusions from every vendor, then compare totals, not headline numbers.
