The Journal · Dental AI search guide

How a dental practice
shows up in ChatGPT.

Give AI tools clear facts to cite. Answer first, give each office its own page, keep your details the same everywhere, and test with fixed questions.

No one can promise a spot in an AI answer. Answers vary by tool, day and user.

The short answer

Make your facts easy to find and cite.

ChatGPT search can give an answer with source links. To be one of those sources, your practice needs clear pages, accurate facts and the same details everywhere. Then test with the same questions on a set schedule.

This is WTM’s view as a website studio. Nothing here guarantees a mention in ChatGPT or any AI tool.

Seven steps.
One clear record.

None of these steps guarantees a mention.

A 9-location dental group · Group-reported results

A real group.
Two measured months.

18+new patients in month one.

We built a new website, location pages and online booking for a dental group with 9 locations, through our Patient Growth System. In month two, new patients ran 17% above the group’s usual monthly growth. We cannot share the group’s name.

Group-reported counts. This result is about the website and booking, not AI answers. It does not prove the website alone caused the increase, and it does not predict another practice’s results.

How does ChatGPT pick a practice to name?

ChatGPT search can give an answer with source links. Those sources can be your site, a directory or another page. Results vary with the question. A practice may show up for one question and not another.

No file, tag or heading guarantees a spot in the answer. You control whether your facts are clear, accurate and easy to read. Read ChatGPT vs Google for local search to see how the two differ.

Why should each page answer first?

Patients ask plain questions. Do you see new patients? How do I book? Put the answer in the first sentence or two, then the detail. Write clean sentences that make sense on their own. That helps patients skim, and it gives AI tools a clear line to quote.

Keep key facts in the page text. Facts placed only inside images or PDFs are harder for systems to read.

Why does each office need its own page?

When a practice has more than one office, each office needs its own accurate page with its address, phone, hours, services, team, directions and book button. City pages with the same text and a new name are a common slip.

For groups, see DSO website design, where every office page comes from one shared template.

What schema does a dental site need?

Schema markup labels the facts on a page in a format machines can read. A practice usually needs LocalBusiness or a specific subtype for each office, with name, address, phone and hours.

You do not need special AI schema. The most common error is one block copied onto every page with a single address. Each office page should describe its own office. Test the code with a validator, then read each field next to the page. See what schema markup does.

An llms.txt file is optional. Google says it does not affect rankings in Google Search, and it does not guarantee a citation. See what is llms.txt.

Why do your profile and listings matter?

Keep each office’s Google Business Profile complete and current. Use the same name, address and phone number on your site, your profiles and your main listings. Check that each office page, its structured data and its profile say the same thing. Our local SEO checklist covers the basics.

Do mentions on other sites matter?

An AI answer may cite a directory or another site, not yours. Keep your details right on the listings that name your practice. If one shows old hours or a past address, ask that site to fix it.

We do not know how much any one mention counts, and we will not guess. Never post fake reviews or mentions.

How do you test if ChatGPT names your practice?

Use the same short list of questions each time. One screenshot is not a trend.

  • Write questions a real patient would ask, such as a service plus your town.
  • Run each one in ChatGPT search and in Google. Note the date and the device.
  • Record which sources appear, not only whether your name shows.
  • Check the facts: hours, address, services and how to book.
  • Repeat on a set schedule. Compare the pattern with your calls, forms and bookings.

If someone offers to track this for you, ask in writing which questions they will use.

What did we see in one search?

On October 17, 2026, we ran one ChatGPT search for “dental group website design company.” WTM Studio was listed 4th, with a link to our dental group page.

That is one search on one day. Answers vary by tool, day and user. It is not a trend, and it is not a promise for any practice. Log notes like this in your own test list.

How can WTM help your practice?

WTM Studio builds custom websites for dental practices and groups. Founder Ray Hussain leads every project. Each office page carries its own structured data, matched to the page and the office’s Google Business Profile.

Website redesigns typically cost $6,000 to $30,000 as a one-time project. New websites are quoted separately. We start with a free homepage concept. Then we agree the scope and one flat quote. No required retainer. You own everything we build. SEO and AI SEO are quoted separately. Read our pricing and engagement terms and see our AI SEO services.

For single practice work, see the Northside Dental case study and dental website design. For groups weighing their options, read DSO website platform vs custom build.

WTM Studio is based in Miramar, Florida, and builds nationwide.

Before you decide

A few good questions.

Can anyone guarantee my practice shows up in ChatGPT?

No. No file, tag or heading guarantees a spot in an AI answer. Answers vary by tool, day and user.

Do I need special AI schema for my dental site?

No. Special AI schema is not required. Use structured data that describes each page accurately, with each office page describing its own office.

Will an llms.txt file get my practice into ChatGPT?

Not on its own. It is an optional summary of your site. It does not guarantee a citation or an accurate answer. Clear pages that systems can access come first.

How do I check if ChatGPT names my practice?

Run a fixed list of patient questions on a set schedule. Note the date, the sources cited and whether your facts are right.
